Letter from LostnSpac

Dear Editor,

You're tricky. I know you like to keep your readers guessing, but you've got me completely baffled. I thought I had an idea where my life was going, but as of late, I'm not so sure. Let's go further into this thought, shall we?

First off, I'm just not sure if college is my thing. I know, I know. Everyone needs to go to college to get a degree to get a good job and be well off. I've heard that all my life. But honestly, college just isn't for some people. I really don't feel like hearing about how Augustus ruled over Rome or how to closely read the Bible. I'm simply not interested in those. I've thought about dropping out every now and then, but I can't seem to convince myself that it's a good idea. The thought has just passed through my mind a few times, you know? I also thought about finding a trade school to attend. That's the kind of learning I like. I want to learn about things that legitimately interest me. I want to learn how to DO things. I don't want to know random facts that, quite honestly, I will never need again after the final exam. There's just no point in my learning this trivial things. Either way, I can't bring myself to drop out of college. I have it pretty good right now.

Also, I've been having a serious identity crisis lately in a few ways. One way is simply my future career. I love photography, and for the past six or seven months, I've been telling others that I plan to be a professional photographer. I'm even saving up for equipment. However, I occasionally have the thought: "Is this what I want to do for the rest of my life?" And I know, a lot of people have this question at my age. But it bugs me. I'm usually very organized and I like to have a plan ahead of time. I would just like to be certain that I want this enough to do it for my entire life. My interests seem to sway. It's been that way my entire life. I've stepped in and out of interests and phases. I've never had a constant interest for my entire life. It just hasn't worked that way. Until I figure it out, I'm completely in the dark.

Another way my identity has been in peril is in regards to who I am as a person. Ever since last Summer, I've been so confident with myself and who I have been. And due to this confidence, I have been happier, made new friends, and also made some enemies. But recently I have been questioning that aspect of my life. I've never been one for labels, but I feel like one is pretty much necessary for me to have a family, and more importantly, a future. I've been told my friends that it's okay not to know exactly what I am. And I understand that, but I went through years of questioning, not knowing, and then hiding. I don't want to go back to that. It's not a time in my life that I want to return to. I've been trying to move on from this and focus on more important things, like school functions, my job in the summer, academics, etc. But if I'm not comfortable with myself and don't know who I am, then how am I supposed to know anything else? One must know thyself before knowing others. That's probably not a legitimate quote, but I feel like something along those lines needed to be said. Truth of the matter is, I don't know myself, and I can't accomplish anything without knowledge.

So, Editor, if your plan has been to leave your readers in the dark for chapters and chapters at a time, you've succeeded. But I implore you, please add some foreshadowing to your story. Not just some, actually. Heavily foreshadow the climax of your story. Because frankly, I'm tired of guessing games.

Sincerely,

LostnSpac

Letter from *AnOldFrnd*

Dear Editor,

The past eight months must have been terrible. I mean, you haven't had any letters! I guess I found other ways to make myself feel better temporarily. But that's over with, and it's time to tell you how you're doing with the story of my life once again.

To be honest, you're doing a pretty decent job. Granted, it could be a little more romantic, but it's okay. Things have been quite dramatic though! I don't even know where to begin. Let's just say college is great. I love the people I met and I could not be happier with the way my life is going. Well, that's not entirely true. You know me, I always need a romance in my life. It's ridiculous. But I met three best friends here at Spring Hill College and I love them to death. Want to hear about them? Well, if you insist...

Brian Kampen is the first of these crazy children. I didn't know him until I went to Preview over the summer. But once we actually started school, we instantly became friends. Now, he's like my brother. He moved his bed into my room because his roommate snores obnoxiously. So it's slightly cramped in here, but it's totally worth it. He's actually from New Orleans. It's crazy how my new best friend is from my hometown, but I never met him before. Oh life, you roll me. We're getting our own room next year, which should be awesome. We've already planned out how we're working everything out to make it the ultimate hangout center. We're kind of nerds like that. But hey, we're fun to be around.. right?

The second of these hooligans is Kathryn Burkenstock. She too is from New Orleans. How do I not already know these people? I have no idea. I'm so happy that two of my friends are from New Orleans, though. Greatest coincidence ever. So this chick is hot stuff. Like, I tried to kiss her when I was drinking before we got really close. That's something I'm not so proud of nowadays. We all make mistakes, right? Anyway, she's my drinking buddy and I love her so much. I can't even put it into words. Awesomeness. That's the best I got.

NEXT! Rachel Bach... I didn't meet her until a few weeks into the year. However, our friendship has grown tremendously! Her, Brian, and I play Super Smash Bros. Brawl almost every day. It's incredible. She stayed at my house for Fall Break and she had a blast. She truly got a taste of New Orleans. On the ride back home from the Janus Ball, we were unbelievably slap-happy. We laughed about literally everything. I've never laughed so hard in my life... and I was driving. Double-trouble, eh? We actually dated for like three days around Valentine's Day. We soon realized that we were too good of friends for that. And now things are back to normal. I'm super happy that we were able to go back so easily. I don't know what I would have done if it would have been awkward. :\

So, Editor. I didn't feel like telling you about the past eight months in detail, so I hope this suffices. I basically spend all of my time with these three people. And I couldn't ask for anything more. I'm going to start writing to you again. I hope that's okay... What am I saying? Like you care, you're not even real! :)

Sincerely,

AnOldFrnd
